The Flexible Benefits Plan allow employees to pay for certain insurance premiums, healthcare expenses and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars.  A Flexible Benefits Plan, as allowed by Section 125 of the Federal Income Tax Code, can provide an advantage, which can benefit employees. This benefit is realized by allowing employees to pay for certain expenses with pre-tax payroll dollars. The result of this plan is that federal withholding taxes from the paycheck are reduced and the employee’s net take home pay is increased.

Healthcare Flexible Spending  Account

This option allows you to set aside amounts of your pay, on a pre-tax basis, to establish a Healthcare FSA to pay for eligible medical, dental and vision expenses that are not covered by an insurance plan. By using pre-tax dollars you reduce your total taxable income thus, increasing the amount of your take-home pay. It is anticipated the maximum amount for the Healthcare FSA will be $2,700.00 for calendar year 2019.  The IRS has not released the new limit as of November 1.
