During the month of October 2019, PG&E implemented two Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events intended to prevent fires caused by their facilities during high wind events. PG&E has since reiterated their intent to implement PSPS events during threats of high wind forecasts in the future. The two October 2019 PG&E outages each spanned five days causing concern for increased risks from: (a) lack of water for fire suppression; (b) lack of water for sanitary and personal use; and (c) lack of water for drinking.
